Call 1-800-XXX-XXXX -- FreeGutters are one of the most overlooked but important components of your home's exterior -- they channel water away from your foundation, preventing thousands of dollars in water damage. Here is what gutter replacement costs in 2026.
| Type | Small | Average | Large |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aluminum gutters (5-inch K-style) | $5 -- $9 | $8 -- $14 | $12 -- $20 |
| Vinyl gutters | $4 -- $7 | $6 -- $11 | $9 -- $16 |
| Steel gutters | $8 -- $14 | $12 -- $20 | $17 -- $28 |
| Copper gutters | $20 -- $35 | $28 -- $48 | $40 -- $65 |
| Gutter guards (per linear ft) | $4 -- $8 | $7 -- $14 | $12 -- $25 |
Prices per linear foot installed, including removal of old gutters. A typical home needs 150-200 linear feet of gutters. Downspouts are additional.
Seamless gutters are the standard in 2026 -- cut on-site from a single continuous roll, they have no joints except at corners and downspout locations, making them far less likely to leak. Sectional gutters come in pre-cut lengths that are joined together -- the joints are the most common failure point. For a new gutter installation, seamless aluminum is the right choice for most homes.
Gutter guards reduce how often you need to clean your gutters and can prevent clogs that cause water to overflow and damage your home. They are most valuable if you have large trees overhanging your roof. Micro-mesh guards are the most effective at keeping out debris including pine needles and shingle grit. Cost varies from $4 to $25+ per linear foot installed depending on the guard type and quality.
Your gutters need replacement if they are cracked, separated at seams, pulling away from the fascia, sagging, or showing signs of rust or corrosion. Gutters that overflow during normal rain despite being clean, or that show water damage marks below them, are also candidates for replacement. Most aluminum gutters last 20-30 years; copper can last 50+ years.
A complete gutter quote should specify the gutter material, gauge, and style; seamless vs. sectional installation; number and placement of downspouts; whether gutter guards are included; warranty on installation; and cleanup and disposal of old gutters. Most reputable gutter contractors offer free estimates for both replacement and repairs.
